Position Summary
Applications Engineer / Business Development : We are looking for an application / business development engineer to work independently, becoming the US technical expert in our optical and alignment metrology systems.
They will be challenged to outreach for new opportunities, create technical solutions and expand our business. They will be responsible for proving system capability with sample measurements and live demonstrations, conducting system training, providing customer support, and communicating through webinars and publications.
They must be willing to travel to customer sites in North America up to 70%.
This person will investigate business development opportunities of new and emerging optic technologies. They will need to partner with industry experts to understand and develop metrology solutions for these technologies.
They will work directly with the teams in the UK and Germany to develop our systems for these markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with manufacturers to implement measurement solutions from concept to production.
- Cultivate relationships with customers to understand their business needs.
- Investigate scope of current project needs
- Review drawings of components produced.
- Understand production processes and how measurements will be utilized.
- Identify and propose solutions.
- Demonstrate capability of solutions (including sample measurements and programs) to ensure deployment success.
- Provide training and contact programming once the solution is installed.
- Provide system support for lifetime and look for ways to improve the solution.
- Identify areas of the optic market for business development.
- Create webinars, publications, and other marketing materials.
Required Essential Skills :

Experience / Qualifications :
We will consider experienced candidates as well as recent graduates with internships or other practical experience. A bachelor’s degree or greater in optical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or similar is required.
Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
