Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing small to mid-size projects within the Operations team. This position plays a critical role in supporting ongoing facility operations by preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring engineering projects. The engineer ensures projects meet performance standards and comply with applicable codes, QA / QC policies, and industry best practices.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support and manage multidiscipline engineering projects across downstream oil and gas or petrochemical operations.
- Develop and maintain schedules, coordinate resources, and monitor project progress and team performance.
- Apply strong organizational and leadership skills to drive execution across engineering, operations, and contractor teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, assign tasks, and ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Monitor project compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and safety protocols.
- Support QA / QC efforts by reviewing deliverables, ensuring adherence to project specifications, and recommending corrective actions.
- Participate in contractor coordination, interface management, and field activities to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Manage project-related documents including MOCs, RFIs, variances, engineering service requests, and contractor requisitions.
- Lead technical and commercial evaluations of bids and proposals.
- Work with senior engineers to optimize project methodologies and improve execution strategies.
- Provide justifications and steward projects through internal approval processes.
- Support the development of metrics and data collection systems to monitor project performance.
- Coordinate effectively across internal departments such as Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and HSE.
- Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Competencies
Experience in downstream oil and gas, petrochemical, or similar industrial operations.Strong project management skills and the ability to supervise cross-functional teams.In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, project controls, and industry codes and standards.Proficiency with engineering software tools and general computer applications.Excellent communication, leadership, time management, and decision-making skills.Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.Demonstrated ability to manage documentation and interface with regulatory and internal stakeholders.Valid, unexpired drivers license required.Work will take place in both office and industrial plant environments.Regular use of standard office equipment including computers, scanners, and phones.Must be able to wear and use all required PPE.May be exposed to varied weather conditions and facility environments including noise, moving equipment, and electrical systems.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. as needed for documents, equipment, or materials.Must be able to stand, sit, walk, reach, and bend regularly.May be required to enter confined spaces or work at heights.Ability to operate a motor vehicle for site visits and business needs.Visual and auditory ability to safely perform job functions.Certifications & Security Requirements
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required or ability to obtain.Additional Information
