Essential Functions Overview

This role is responsible to work in accordance with City policies and procedures including adhering to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the City's Safety Handbook as well as promoting inclusiveness, belonging and impartiality throughout the organization.

Essential Functions

• Attends court proceedings and hearings; monitors, manages and processes related paperwork and exhibits.
• Prepares, processes and monitors the court docket; ensures hearings are set on the correct days and times; resets hearings when incorrectly set or in the event of a docket change.
• Processes, verifies, issues and schedules orders of protection and injunctions against harassment.
• Assigns and attaches public defenders to cases and updates corresponding information.
• Directs defendants and defense attorneys in the courtroom.
• Updates information in various court systems; enters pleas.
• Provides customer service in-person, online, over the phone and in the courtroom including citation entry, receiving bonds and processing filings, motions and records requests.
• Creates, issues and cancels warrants.
• Processes payments, handles cash drawer and reconciles transactions.
• Responds to correspondence received; responds to internal and external inquiries from government agencies to transmit necessary paperwork, process information requests and facilitate case progression.
• Completes case paperwork and maintains various records and files.
• Ensures courtroom supplies are stocked and ordered.

Minimum Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED; and two (2) years of experience in customer service with frequent public contact, including one (1) year of court related experience with cash handling;

or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Court procedures and understanding of the court system; court record keeping procedures; legal terminology; departmental programs, objectives, policies and procedures;

operate a personal computer and related software or programs

• Multitask with numerous and frequent interruptions; work varied hours and accommodate a flexible schedule.
• Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• May be required to work weekends and holidays, as assigned.
