The Kitchen Lead leads a team of 2-3 employees, coordinating cooking operations for the school’s kitchen. Areas of execution include employee training, quality control, recipe consistency, monitoring food safety at all stages, and ensuring accurate student meal counts.
The Kitchen Lead will report to the Director of Operations.
Job Responsibilities :
Supervise day-day operations of the kitchen team.
Prepare and cook meals and snacks including proteins, sauces, grains, produce, or baked goods daily according to recipes.
Serve as lead quality control for taste, appearance and portioning.
Train, coach and develop staff on standardized recipes.
Follow all DOH and food safety guidelines
The position is responsible for the kitchen area.
Reporting meal counts on a daily basis.
Maintain school meal tracking system
Tally daily meal counts and enter into the tracking system
Prepares meal reports
Coordinate with regarding student allergies
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS :
High School Diploma with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Food Service Industry, preferably in a school setting.
Food Service, or Nutrition experience preferred.
Computer skills required
NYC Food Handler Certification / License
