Coaching Assistant, Men's Rugby

Overview

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Coaching Assistant, Men's Rugby position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the NCAA-DI.

This position is "assistant coach" to the head coach, coaching all positions and both 7's and 15's. This position will be to work primarily with newer players who are part of the developmental team however there will be some crossover with our first and second teams. The coaching assistant will have a good working knowledge of the Laws of Rugby Football and be capable of refereeing both team scrimmages and matches. Please note this is a part-time 10-month position scheduled to work 10 hours per week.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma / GED.
• 3-5 years of Rugby playing experience, at least five (5) years, preferred.
• 3-5 years of Rugby coaching experience preferred; preferably with both 15s and 7s at the collegiate level, the club level, or higher.
• USA Rugby Level 200 coaching certification or higher. Will possibly consider working towards this certification

Employees in coaching positions are required to maintain current AED / CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Athletic Department).

Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED / CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
