American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications and a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of an acute care hospital settingCare for critically ill adult patients with diagnoses including cardiac, open heart, sepsis, stroke, and post-procedure casesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2 or 1 : 1 depending on acuity12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)Uses Cerner PowerChart EMR and hardwired GE monitorsDrips in use include vasopressors, nitro, heparin; vent management requiredFloat to Tele and ER for ICU holds as neededNo nurse aides, but a unit tech is present for support dutiesExpect to work holidays with permanent staff rotationFloor orientation includes 1 day on ICU and 1 shift on the Tele / stepdown unitResponsible for high-acuity adult critical care including cardiac, stroke, and post-operative managementWill not be assigned fresh open heart or craniotomy patientsCharge nurse available on unit without patient assignmentRT and pharmacy available 24 / 7; in-house hospitalist or intensivist support at all timesPatient satisfaction and compassionate care are strongly valuedTravelers are first to floatNavy blue scrubs are requiredHoliday and weekend shifts are built into schedule; expect to be needed most during holidays\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license (State or Compact / NLC), not pendingCurrent certifications : ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS requiredMinimum of 2 years ICU nursing experience; 3 years preferred unless from a large institutionPrior travel experience preferredAbility to provide two references : one supervisor from the last 12 months, one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsCopy of driver’s license required for considerationSuccessful completion of skills testing and a pass / fail sterile technique test on orientation dayCannot have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year\n Benefits\n
