Buyer
The role involves managing a purchasing deck within the Service Parts for the Ford Customer Service Division. The position requires supplier negotiation, project management, and purchasing to secure the best prices and cost reductions. The work is fast-paced, requiring multitasking and interaction with both new and existing suppliers to ensure optimal value.
Responsibilities
- Procure goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments, communicating any supply problems impacting business operations.
- Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
- Monitor and advise on issues presenting risks or opportunities to the organization.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.
- Provide analysis on costs, both new and existing, and review cost reduction activities.
- Work closely with others in the procurement function, reviewing opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities for business savings using negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships, ensuring good communication.
- Conduct research for new components and suppliers.
- Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
- Resolve supplier shortages and past-due situations.
- Update and maintain commodity strategies.
- Work with cost estimating to develop cost estimates for savings negotiations and to mitigate supplier uplift requests.
- Produce weekly reports, charts, and status updates on open assignments and projects.
- Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.
- Review open vehicles off-road (VOR) and backorders weekly, expediting parts delivery.
Essential Skills
- 2-5 years of recent purchasing and buying commodities experience within the automotive industry.
- 2-5 years of program management and analytical experience.
- Proven examples of negotiations and experience in identifying/driving cost savings.
- SAP experience.
- Intermediate Excel knowledge (Normal User 80% or higher).
- Strong communication skills.
- Completed Bachelor's degree.
- Highly motivated and proactive.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $43.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
