Overview
Manufacturing Specialist - Shipping at Legrand, North America in Concord, NC. The Manufacturing Specialist is responsible for materials received and shipped to location / department in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining accurate records. Responsibilities include recording production in ASI, preparing intercompany shipments, entering ASI inventory transactions, and assisting other inventory control departments.
What Will You Do?
- Stores – Machines, tools and equipment used : Counting scales (manual and electronic), UPS meter, postage meter, LP and electronic power equipment, computer terminal.
- Materials used : Cartons, cardboard boxes, shrinkwrap, packing materials, tape, labels.
- Receive, unpacks and examine goods shipped to establishment and verify completeness of shipments against bills of lading, invoices or POs.
- Keep records of goods shipped and received. Route incoming goods to departments. Ship material from establishment.
- Load and unload trailers on receiving dock.
- Receive shipments from outside suppliers.
- Reconcile product and quantity to manifest.
- Route incoming products to designated departments.
- Prepare products for shipments – truck, parcel post, UPS, domestic and export.
- Originate freight bills and bills of lading.
- Maintain, publish and enter receiving information into ASI system against POs.
- Count and check material received in MRO, sort and distribute to bins, containers or storage areas. Assign location for stock. Fill material requisitions promptly and accurately. Detect defective material, report shortages or when stock is low.
- Receive products from receiving or production departments, verify product and quantity and locations.
- Pull products from handwritten tickets, verify product and quantity and deliver to production departments or shipping.
- May process Kanban tickets reporting production and consumption.
- Maintain internal major / minor locations in the data base for plant locations.
- Flexibility to work in MRO, Shipping Receiving or Cycle Count functions.
- Total responsibility to eliminate non-conformance within quality of products.
Manufacturing
Maintain and cycle count floor stock – using scales.Machines, tools and equipment used : pallet jacks, fork lifts, ladders, vacuum loaders, scales, dryers, granulators, calculators.Materials used : Various assembly and packaging materials including poly, boxes, containers, screws.Ensure labels, screws, cartons, containers, poly-pro and hardware are available for shift production.Handle, stage and maintain flow of all materials to and from machines, presses, assembly and packaging areas, rework areas and storage racks.Dispose of trash and corrugation for departments.Follow direction of the area Process Tech, Set up or Lead Person for guidance in prioritizing material flow to and from work centers.Utilize Kanban system to determine priorities concerning materials replenishment.Report substitutions and / or deviations from the production plan correctly.Communicate to the Planner and the Supervisor any production order that cannot be completed due to material shortages, capacity constraints, etc.Run all travelers. Maintain and control reorder points for W.I.P. items.Handle inventory issues – ordering materials, initiating transfers for overages and NCRs for rejects.Use of various mechanical equipment and knowledge of job structure (building the products).Maintain accurate raw material inventory, print and fill out scrap reports.Move finished goods as required. Maintain accurate inventory and records. Research materials as needed.Quality of molded plastic parts depends on contamination-free material.Maintain high level of housekeeping to 5S standards.Total responsibility to eliminate non-conformance within quality of products.All other duties as directed by the Supervisor.Qualifications
Education : High school degree or GED preferred.
Experience : Minimum three months manufacturing experience. Forklift experience and data entry experience required. Formal inventory control systems experience required.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities :
Basic math, reading and writing skills in English.Good computer skills.Knowledge of ASI System, Matrix and NCR Database preferred.Good communications and interpersonal skills.Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.Able to perform repetitive job functions; hand mobility, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.Manual dexterity for assembly and operating tools and machines.Ability to safely operate moving equipment.Understanding of Manufacturing Specialist job responsibilities.Forklift Certification recommended.Personal Protective Equipment
