Hana Engineers and Consultants, LLC is seeking to hire a full-time Project Environmental Engineer, Geologist or Environmental Scientist with 7-15 years of experience to support Hana’s environmental portfolio of projects in both federal government and commercial sectors. While this position is remote, it requires occasional travel to Hana offices and project sites, which are primarily located in the Northeast states. Preference will be given to applicants who reside near Hana’s Ashland, Virginia office or within proximity to key project locations in the Northeast United States.
Core Roles / Responsibilities :
- Support the management of federal projects to include USEPA and DoD
- Collaborate with technical teams across multiple offices to solve complex problems, prepare plans and specifications, and engage with clients and subcontractors.
- Prepare and review technical documents, such as UFP-QAPP / Work Plans, Health and Safety Plans, and Investigation Reports.
- Assist in the design and implementation of environmental CERCLA and RCRA projects
- Conduct field investigations, including logging of soil and rock, monitoring well installation and development, sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, indoor air, soil gas, drinking water, and building materials, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Contribute to the preparation of project proposals and evaluation of contractor bids, working closely with senior staff to refine scopes of work and budgets.
- Oversee and lead field activities and ensure accurate reporting, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with senior staff in developing and reviewing technical documents and ensuring quality assurance / quality control (QA / QC) for deliverables.
- Act as a mentor to junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development within project teams.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science.Licensed Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer or actively pursuing licensure in the near term.7 – 15 years of relevant environmental experience, including at least 3 years of direct field work.Current HAZWOPER training and certification (40-hour with annual refreshers)Demonstrated experience with CERCLA processes, including RI / FS, RD / RA, and ROD documentation.EPA CLP Scribe experience (preferred but not required).Familiarity with federal facility environmental policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Strong work ethic.Ability to travel up to 35% to support field investigations, remediation efforts and project meetings.Ability to gain access to military bases and other federal facilities.Starting pay = $60,000 - $120,000 depending on experience.
