Job Description :
Job Roles & Responsibilities :
- The Scientist will conduct bioanalytical experiments to enable characterization of small molecule-protein interactions in live cells.
- They will routinely collaborate with a small team to drive our understanding of small molecule interactions with disease-relevant protein targets in complex biological systems.
- The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining cells in culture, treating cells with compounds of interest, and processing samples for analysis on mass spectrometers.
- The successful candidate will have familiarity with sterile handling of mammalian cells in culture, have excellent skills with handling cell and protein samples, and be organized and detail-oriented in the laboratory.
- This individual must be highly self-motivated, able to work independently in their area of expertise, and must be an outstanding team player.
- Experience in proteomics and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instrumentation is a plus.
- A B.S. or M.S. in biochemistry, chemical biology, molecular or cell biology, or analytical chemistry is desired.

Years of experience / education and / or certifications required :
BS degree with 0-5 years equivalent experience; M.Sc. with 0 - 2 years equivalent experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemical biology, bioanalytical chemistry or related areas.
What are the top 3-5 skills requirements should this person have?
- Knowledge base in biochemistry and cell biology.
- Research lab experience working on mammalian cell culture and cell- or protein-based assays.
- Perform routine and complex bioanalytical tasks following established methods competently and independently.
- Excellent note-keeping and organizational skills, highly detail oriented, good communication skills.
- A desire and capacity to learn, drive continuous improvement, and operate in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.
What is a nice to have (but not required) regarding skills, requirements, experience, education, or certification?
- Experience with bottom-up analysis of proteins and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.
- Experience in using chemical probes for understanding small molecule-protein interactions.
- Experience with data analysis, presentation and statistical software.
What type of environment is this person working in?
- Combination of both group and individual setting
- Role is primarily on-site but occasional remote possible after demonstrated proficiency with data processing.
