Certified K-4 Reading Interventionist
This position is responsible for instructing elementary school students needing support in the areas of English Language Arts by providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention.
The interventionist will support the regular education curriculum and work collaboratively with other personnel to expand student development of appropriate skills, knowledge, and interests in reading.
The interventionist will directly report to the campus principal.
Essential Duties
- Instructs K-4 students through small group instruction based off data driven decisions.
- Prepares appropriate lesson plans to meet the needs and abilities of assigned students.
- Uses a variety of instructional techniques and approved materials appropriate for students' age and skill level.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and creates a safe, orderly, and effective environment for learning.
- Participates in parent teacher conferences as requested to report student progress and discuss data.
- Provides specialized instructional strategies for staff members on appropriate intervention (Tier I, II and III) in English Language Arts instruction.
- Maintains up to date tracking data for all students receiving intervention.
- Facilitates teacher collaboration on components such as progress monitoring, instructional intervention, data analysis, and reporting results on a timely on-going basis.
- Participates in the MTSS process.
- Participates and / or leads the Child Study Team.
- Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.
- Participates in various student and parent activities which occur before, during, or after school.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and / or Abilities Required)
- A valid AZ Teaching Credential with a Reading Endorsement (or equivalent from outside AZ).
- A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in grade levels K-4.
- Must possess effective, best practice instructional delivery techniques, and excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of and experience with the Science of Reading framework.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, colleagues, parents, and students.
- Technological proficiency and ability to learn programs as needed.
