Medical Solutions is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Salt Lake City, Utah.

change frequently and without notice. Exact pay package may vary based on guaranteed hours,

distance being traveled, and customizations available for travelers.

Unit "ICU Float

(Combination : MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU, etc.)"

# Beds :

Nurse : Patient Ratios : "1 : 1-2 dependent on acuity; may be asked to flex up to 1 : 3

1 : 1 for high acuity patients such as CRRT, IABP, Impella, etc. "

Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) : BLS, ACLS

Common diagnoses / Types of patients General- Combination ICUs

Experience or 'Must have' skills "Must have 2 years of ICU experience

Prefer prior travel experience

If a 1st time traveler- then they need to have 3+ years of ICU experience & have Epic experience "

Are RNs required to titrate drips? Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips

Common titratable & / or set rate drips Pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin, & more

Charge Nurse / House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Designated Charge on each unit; doesn't take a patient assignment unless necessary; more common for night shift charge to end up with a small pt assignment

Are there nurse aids on this unit / Ratios None; For sitter needs only

Hospitalist or Intensivist in house

RNs expected to be able to assist in troubleshooting and managing respiratory needs. "

RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow; Breathing treatments

Are there Tele / Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? No monitor tech; RNs are expected to read and interpret their own tele

Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "7-7, Schedule is made out by leadership for 6 wks at a time, travelers are expected to be flexible and help to fill gaps in permanent scheduling.

All time off requests need to be submitted prior to starting assignment"

Weekend Requirements 6-9 weekend shifts in a 6 week schedule

Holiday Requirements May be asked to go into the Holiday Rotation

Is there a call or standby requirement? Rare, for low census

Floating Requirements "May be asked to float into any other acuity level; ICU, PCU / Stepdown, & MS-Tele

You can be asked for float between all hospitals in the zone including :

Holy Cross Davis, Holy Cross Jordan Valley, Holy Cross Jordan Valley West, Holy Cross Salt Lake, Holy Cross Mountain Point (Region based out of Salt Lake City, UT)"

Scrub Color / Dress Code Any Color

Unit / Department specific orientation 1-2 days with a preceptor
