The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is the state agency responsible for providing a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public, while promoting economic development and preserving the environment of New Mexico.
Within the NMDOT, the Intelligent Transportation Systems Bureau is responsible for utilizing data, information and advanced communications in real time operations to improve roadway and transportation safety and efficiency.
As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government.
Why does the job exist?
This position provides financial oversight and administrative functions that enables the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Bureau to procure all the necessary goods and services to meet its operational goals and objectives while ensuring the Bureau's expenditures fully comply with state and federal requirements.

Who are the customers?
This job is done for all the operational and support staff at the ITS Bureau as well as acts as the coordinating contact with clients purchasing staff and that of central purchasing staff for the General Office.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will preferred education and / or experience in the following :
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and one (1) year of experience in bill collection, bookkeeping, office administration, auditing, accounting, and / or finance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual / Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
