Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead the HSE function across our clients enterprise. The HSE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining company-wide health, safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with all local, state / provincial, and federal regulations. This position will oversee a team of HSE professionals, across multiple site locations and states, promoting a culture of safety excellence and environmental stewardship across the organization. This role will report to the clients HSE Director.
In this role you will get to :
- Lead, mentor, and manage a distributed team of HSE professionals across North America.
- Execute a comprehensive HSE strategy aligned with company goals and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary HSE subject matter expert for HSE team and site management teams.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable Canadian regulationsOversee audits, inspections, and corrective action plans across all locations.Maintain and update company-wide HSE policies and procedures in alignment with changing regulations.Program Management
Implement and maintain standardized safety programs, training materials, and systems across all sites.Lead initiatives in incident prevention, emergency preparedness, and risk reduction.Manage environmental programs related to air, water, and waste, including permitting, emissions tracking, and sustainability reporting.Provide manufacturing & engineering technical input into process hazard studies and capital projects ensuring safety is at the forefront of processes & projects.Assist in the development of the HSE budget for the site.Attend site management and department meetings on regular basis and upon request.Performance & Reporting
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure HSE effectiveness and continuous improvement.Prepare and present regular reports to executive leadership on HSE metrics, incidents, and risk areas.Support root cause analysis for significant incidents and ensure proper follow-up actions.Culture & Engagement
Promote a proactive safety culture focused on employee engagement, behavior-based safety, and accountability.Partner with HR and Operations to develop training and communication plans that reinforce EHS values.Job Requirements : BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Health, Safety, Environmental or related fieldMinimum 7-10 years of HSE experience in a multi-site manufacturing environmentMinimum 3 years in role leading HSE team membersIn depth knowledge of U.S. regulations, and industry best practicesExperience managing cross-functional teams and driving organization change across multiple locationsStrong ability to communicate in written and oral formats with diplomacy and tactStrong analytical and project management skillsCompetent in using Microsoft Office products and systemsAbility to travel up to 50% to visit sites as needed (estimated travel will equal twice / month or every other week)ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated success in teaching others health and safety concepts and requirementsProfessional certification as CSPAn aptitude for exercising independent thinking and reasoningPrevious success in working effectively in a cross functional environmentSkilled in leading others without formal reporting authorityFlexibility to work extended or later hours periodically to support second and third shiftsAbility to communicate in Spanish as a second language preferredSeniority level
