BRICK currently operates schools in Newark, New Jersey (BRICK Gateway Academy Charter School) and Buffalo, New York, offering a K‑12 continuum and wraparound services such as prenatal care, career services, housing support, and post‑graduate assistance.
Overview
We are seeking teachers who are passionate about our mission and dedicated to working with underserved black and brown students and families. Ideal candidates are solution‑oriented, data‑driven, collaborative, culturally competent, and maintain humility while fostering positive relationships.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities)
Demonstrate proficiency in working with black and brown students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
Show cultural competence and knowledge of best practices to support students of various socio‑economic experiences.
Create and maintain a positive, safe, and collaborative classroom environment.
Continuously strengthen the classroom community by investing students and families in the iDream values (Innovation, Diligence, Respect, Empathy, A+ Self Control, and Model Student), core values, mission, and vision.
Execute the network‑adopted unit and lesson plans to accelerate student learning and social‑emotional development.
Deliver instructional practices with appropriate accommodations, modifications, and acceleration as needed.
Attend and actively participate in all required meetings to ensure strong communication and professional development, including department, grade‑level, and staff meetings.
Participate in regular meetings with your coach to support development, including observation and feedback meetings, planning meetings, and data meetings.
Collaborate with coaches and peers to share best practices and build a strong adult culture.
Utilize data from student observations as well as summative and formative assessments to inform instruction.
Adjust instruction as needed to meet the unique needs of students, including differentiating instruction for different learning styles.
Teach and enforce school‑wide systems and structures.
Participate in whole‑school events and home visits to build strong, trusting relationships with students and families.

Proficiency in working with computers, including commonly used software such as Google Documents, Google Sheets, and Excel.
Prior experience working with children strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university.
A valid teaching license / certification or an active pathway to acquire one is required.
An ability to meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and “Highly Qualified” according to ESSA.
Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by the first day of employment.
Salary, Goals and Employment Period
Salary range : Competitive compensation package based on previous experience ($65,000 – $100,000 per year).
Full‑time position.
Employment period : 11 months.
