New York Common Pantry is one of the city’s largest food pantries, providing food assistance, case management services, senior food provision, nutrition education, and hygiene services.

Help 365 Mobile Pantry Engagement Specialist will work with the various partner organizations to provide support to the mobile pantry and case management services.
The objective of the position is to establish relationships with organizations interested in pantry distribution services and connect households to the appropriate services within NYCP that will provide assistance to those impacted by social determinants of health.
Specific duties will include monitoring referral systems, providing a coordinated receipt of referrals, assessing the needs of the referral, connecting to appropriate NYCP services, providing follow-up for referrals both internally and externally, and maintaining appropriate reporting tools.
Duties will also consist of benefits screenings and direct assistance with public benefits applications that include but are not limited to SNAP.
The Help 365 Mobile Pantry Engagement Specialist will report to the Mobile Pantry Manager at the 8 East 109th, New York, NY 10029 location.
The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday : 9 am - 5 pm; 1-hour lunch. This is a Full-Time position, 35 hours a week, non-exempt.
Responsibilities : Partner engagement
Partner engagement
Travel to assigned partner sites across New York City to conduct outreach, and identify potential partner sites for benefits enrollment services.
Lead the member engagement and outreach on the Food Programs team by creating and disseminating outreach materials - print and electronic and by sending promotional text messages and emails.
Navigate the database to access pantry member information; Update the database at the end of the pantry operations to reflect the number of families served.
Delete entries that were accidentally scanned twice and manually enter the correct information, when necessary.
Assist with data entry, running reports in agency databases, and preparing required reports for the programs as assigned.
Conduct regular demonstrations, promotions about special events, services at the pantry and soup kitchen, and information sessions for members about placing online orders.
Conduct on-site client engagement and serve as a liaison between partner sites and the Mobile Pantry program.
Onboard new full-service sites and coordinate logistics, volunteers, and resources necessary to address the specific needs at partner sites.
i.e. Zeus distributions).
Conduct bi-annual membership surveys alongside the Mobile Pantry Manager to identify eligibility for full-service (online choice) pantry services.
Assist in developing surveying tools and build capacity at partner sites to establish full-service deliveries via Unicentric.
Provide on-site case management services and guidance for membership registration.
Work with Mobile Case Managers to develop monthly site visits to Mobile sites and provide remote participant support.
Benefits Application Assistance
Manage assigned caseload from partner sites, and established mobile partners; collect information obtained from the prospective client;
enter information into the database systems in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Provide screening for services according to program protocols; provide benefits screening, referrals, and or public benefits application assistance that includes SNAP, TANF, One Shot Deal, ERAP, SSI / SSD, and Health insurance for new and existing clients.
Submit SNAP applications through Access HRA portal.
Confirm appointments with scheduled applicants 24 to 48 hours in advance.
Provide immediate formal mediation between the applicant and HRA, ensuring successful receipt of SNAP benefits.
Confirm receipt of benefits and amounts awarded at the conclusion of the application process.
Maintain accurate tracking spreadsheets of SNAP applications submitted and benefits received.
Input all services provided in the agency’s assigned database and spreadsheets.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications :
Full professional proficiency level in English and Spanish.
An Associate’s degree in Social Work or Human Services is required; however, related work experience may substitute for education requirements.
Commitment to helping the communities in need and NYCP’s work and mission.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong skills in data entry and spreadsheets, and the ability to learn new software quickly.
comfortable working with diverse populations.
Strong knowledge of public benefits / entitlements and systems.
Ability to multi-task and work in a highly trafficked area.
Highly organized knowledge of case management databases is a plus.
