Since we opened our doors in 1860, Denver Health has had a reputation of providing for the growing needs of the community. From our start over 160 years ago, growth and expansion has morphed Denver Health in to a leading safety net institution, community academic medical center, and patient home providing care to all patients regardless of ability to pay. Denver Health is now a 555-bed Level I Trauma Center, and one of the largest safety net teaching hospitals in the United States. Additionally, the institution has grown to include The Denver Department of Public Health, the Denver Paramedics, and 10 primary care sites located across the Denver Metro area. All told, the Denver Health system provides more than 315 million dollars of uncompensated care every year, over one million ambulatory care encounters, 124,000 ER/Urgent Care visits, and 9,000 outpatient surgeries.
