Passaic County Community College is seeking a School Nurse that will report directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for promoting the health and well-being of students and staff by providing health services, managing chronic conditions, responding to medical emergencies and support a healthy school environment. This role is vital in ensuring that students are healthy, safe, and read to learn. This is a 10-month position.
Example of Duties :
- Provide direct care to students and staff for injuries and acute or chronic illness.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.) and follow up as needed.
- Support children with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, allergies, diabetes) through individualized care plans.
- Monitor and manage communicable diseases and report to public health authorities as required.
- Work as a team to educate students, staff and families on health-related topics and preventive care.
- Collaborate with school students, staff, parents, and healthcare providers to support student health and academic success.
- Promote hygiene practices such as handwashing, toileting, and diapering in collaboration with teachers.
- Additional duties as necessary or assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in NJ.CPR and First Aid certification required; School Nurse Certification preferred.Previous experience in pediatric, public health, or school nursing is highly desirable.The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation : Salary is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $71,225.
