Job Title : VP of Strategic Sales

Department : Sales

Reports to : CRO

Job Summary : The Vice President of Strategic Sales is a key leadership role responsible for leading and driving the strategic sales function within the company. This executive position plays a critical role in formulating sales strategies, expanding the customer base, and achieving revenue targets. The VP of Strategic Sales will oversee a global team of sales professionals and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the company's growth and success with named accounts. The Vice President of Strategic Sales will be a crucial part of the company's leadership team, driving revenue growth with our largest customers, named prospects and shaping the future of the organization. This position requires a dynamic individual with experience working with large global accounts, a customer-centric approach, and a track record of achieving sales excellence.

Responsibilities and Duties

Sales Strategy and Planning :

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies and plans to achieve revenue and growth targets aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Conduct market analysis, identify new business opportunities, and define target market segments.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to set ambitious but achievable sales goals.

Team Leadership and Management :

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage a high-performing strategic enterprise sales team, providing guidance and support to enable their success.
  • Set performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and establish individual and team sales targets.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork within the sales organization.
  • Customer Relationship Management :

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Drive customer acquisition, retention, and satisfaction efforts by ensuring exceptional customer experiences throughout the sales process.
  • Sales Operations and Processes :

  • Implement and optimize sales processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Utilize data and analytics to monitor sales performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to enhance sales effectiveness.
  • Revenue Forecasting and Reporting :

  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and regular reports to the executive team, highlighting progress towards goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and potential risks and opportunities.
  • Sales and Marketing Collaboration :

  • Work closely with the marketing team to align sales and marketing and ABM strategies, ensuring a cohesive approach to lead generation, branding, and customer engagement.
  • Collaborate with product management and development teams to incorporate customer feedback and market insights into product improvements and new offerings.
  • Industry and Competitive Analysis :

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to identify potential threats and opportunities for the company's sales efforts.
  • Qualifications and Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven track record of success in leading high-performing sales teams and achieving revenue targets in the technology / software industry, preferably with supply chain software.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS sales processes and the ability to adapt to changing market dynamics.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a sales team.
  • Strategic thinker with the capacity to analyze data, draw insights, and make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Experience with CRM software and sales analytics tools.
  • Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and networking abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of financial metrics related to sales performance.
