About the position\n\nResponsibilities\n

• Provide programmatic and direct medical care for the Intensive Residential Treatment Services program.\n
• Oversee client's medical care and medication administration procedures.\n
• Monitor client health status while in the program.\n
• Assess client health at intake and monitor throughout the program.\n
• Coordinate referrals to community psychiatric care providers.\n
• Refer clients for annual physical exams if due.\n
• Address needs of recipients with co-occurring Substance Abuse Disorder.\n
• Ensure safe handling and administration of medications.\n
• Create documentation procedures for medication use.\n
• Train staff in proper administration and documentation procedures.\n
• Observe staff competency in administering medications and health-related procedures.\n
• Educate staff and clients regarding medications, side effects, and drug interactions.\n
• Train staff in first aid techniques and response to medical emergencies.\n
• Provide ongoing consultation and advice to staff and clients.\n
• Order medications as needed and supervise their destruction.\n
• Maintain communication with the Program Director and Treatment Supervisor.\n
• Respond promptly to client and staff emergencies.\n
• Attend weekly team meetings.\n
• Monitor medication administration programs with assistance from medical staff.\n\nRequirements\n
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the State of Minnesota.\n
• Qualified Mental Health Practitioner in accordance with M Statute 245.462 Subdivision 17 (preferred).\n
• Professional experience in direct service to individuals with mental health issues.\n
• Experience in management and supervision.\n
• Sincere desire to work with and promote culturally competent services.
