Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry position on night shift, requiring at least 2 years of recent Med / Tele RN experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in a hospital setting with Level 1 Trauma and teaching designation
  • Work on inpatient Med / Surg and Telemetry units with 20-36 beds per unit
  • Patient populations include general med / surg and telemetry patients
  • RN to patient ratio is 1 : 4-6
  • 12-hour night shifts from 7P-7A
  • Requires floating to all med / surg and telemetry units as needed
  • No on-call or call-back required
  • Must work either 11 / 27 or 11 / 28, 12 / 24 or 12 / 25, and 12 / 31 or 1 / 1 for holiday coverage
  • Central telemetry unit is available for monitoring
  • EMR system used is Epic
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Department is supported by CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, discharge nurses, resource team, 24 / 7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist
  • Orientation includes 1 day facility orientation and 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Busy, team-oriented unit culture
  • RN scrub color is navy
  • Free parking is available around campus
  • RNs are responsible for drawing from CVLs as there is no dedicated IV team

    • Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele RN experience required
  • Must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Skills needed in trach care, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, use of glucometers, and titration of insulin and heparin drips
  • Experience with Epic EMR is required
