Freese and Nichols is seeking a Technical Resource Librarian to join our Technical Excellence group. We are open to considering people in . As Technical Resource Librarian, you will organize, maintain, and administer the firm’s library of technical standards and resources. In addition to maintaining the technical standards and resources, you may be updating the Technical Excellence Organization Microsoft SharePoint site, coordinating necessary resources and roster updates with technical leaders and specialists, assisting project teams, and special assignments as requested by the Technical Standards Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review current resources,identifygaps, and track renewals. Receive requests fornew resourcesandworkwith vendors to develop a quote to provide new resources.
- Track Freese and Nichols' use of technical standards and resources across platforms and offices.
- Prepare reports and statistics on resource usage, userrequestsand costs to analyze employee activity and resource/database usage. Present findings to management and make recommendations for proposed improvements.
- Coordinate with Business Technology as needed to support organization andmanaging ofthe firm’s technical standards and resources.
- Assistin developing and providing support and training for FNI technical staffregardingthefirm’s library of technical standards and resources.
- Assistin the development, implementation, and enforcement ofappropriate resourceusage policies.
- Provide technical and reference services for employees including accessassistance, searches, research requests,articleand book requests, and industry standards.
- Survey stakeholders todeterminegaps in required information resources, such as articles, manuals of practice, research papers, and other resources.
- Attend Technical Excellence Program meetings, asrequested.
- Domestic travel may berequiredto perform job functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Sciences, or related field
- 5+ years with demonstrated progression of responsibility in management of a technical library in the engineering or architectural professions or organization of resources across an organization
- Prior private sector experience desired; exposure to the Architectural / Engineering / Construction (AEC) industry desired
- Working knowledge of external reference standards, such as ASTM, IEEE, ASCE, ASME, etc
- Working knowledge of reference standards delivery subscription platforms, such as Accuris Engineering Workbench, MADCAD, and others
- Proficient with SharePoint
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work independently to achieve results
- Exceptional writing and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience, preferably in a scientific, technical, or engineering library
- Master's degree in Library and Information Sciences or related field
