Payroll Technician - Anchorage AK

Unless specifically stated otherwise, this role is "On-Site" at the location detailed in the job post. $23.41 - $34.55 Hourly Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

Department : Human Resources - Central Payroll

Hours of Work : Monday through Friday; 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.

Location : City Hall, 632 W 6th Avenue

Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range.

Example of Duties

  • While adhering to strict privacy and confidentiality guidelines, accurately and timely receive and log a large volume of employment verification requests and unemployment statements.
  • Calculate and complete the verification of employment then review for completeness.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and monitor logs for completion.
  • Assist the team with preparing information for internal and external audits.
  • Entering data into SAP for RFC and annual support pack testing.
  • Assist with the validation of paperwork submitted by departments and file necessary documents into employee personnel files, preparing the files for records retention.
  • Review and analyze the Municipalities retention schedule to determine when files should be sent for records retention or reviewed for destruction.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required : High School / GED

Additional Qualifications / Responsibilities : Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent and four (4) years of progressively responsible clerical or technical experience which includes at least three (3) years of specialized personnel experience in the areas specific to the position, one of which was at the Personnel Technician II level with the Municipality of Anchorage, or at an equivalent level elsewhere.
