Job Description
A BIT ABOUT SIBEL HEALTH :
With headquarters based in Chicago, Illinois and an international office in Seoul, South Korea, Sibel Health is an award-winning digital health startup with a mission to deliver Better Health Data for All®. We were founded with a specific focus on our most vulnerable patients—pregnant persons and babies—where we believe wireless monitoring has the potential to do the most good worldwide. We achieve this by providing a complete monitoring solution of advanced wireless wearables, best in class software, and novel AI / ML algorithms all linked to the cloud. To date, we’ve launched our technologies in 20 countries from the most advanced hospitals in the world to the most resource constrained locations. We work with some of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world from major philanthropies to large medical technology and pharmaceutical companies. With numerous FDA clearances and a recently completed fundraising round, we are poised for growth and expansion. We are seeking mission-driven individuals with a strong sense of purpose who believe that technology can improve the lives of our most vulnerable patients.
THE OPPORTUNITY :
We’re hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead development of our next-generation wearable medical devices. You’ll own design and implementation across schematics, PCB / flex design, firmware co-development, verification, and design transfer—balancing innovation with the rigor required for regulated medical products.
WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON :
- Own EE architecture & delivery for wearable devices from concept through sustaining; drive requirements flow-down, feasibility / POC, and system trade-offs (power, size, RF, cost, reliability).
- Schematic & PCB / flex design : Component selection, layout guidance, placement and routing oversight; apply DFM / DFA / DFT / DFx principles.
- Embedded firmware collaboration : Partner on bare-metal / RTOS bring-up (e.g., boot, drivers, BLE stack); contribute to integration test and debug on SoCs / MCUs.
- Verification & compliance : Plan and execute electrical verification (bench, HALT / HASS where applicable), EMC / ESD, safety, and wireless coexistence; author test protocols / reports; support internal and external V&V activities.
- Builds & bring-up : Lead EVT / DVT / PVT builds, board and system bring-up, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
- Manufacturing & sustaining : Support NPI, production test development, line bring-up, first-article reviews; serve as ECO / DCO owner for electronics; drive cost-downs and component qualifications / PCNs.
- Risk management & design controls : Create / maintain DFMEA (and contribute to PFMEA), acceptance criteria, traceability (CRs / DIs / DOs / trace matrix), and eQMS documentation; ensure ISO 13485 / IEC 60601 alignment.
- Cross-functional leadership : Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Software, Quality, Clinical, and Regulatory; run design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
- Lab stewardship : Maintain EE lab instruments / fixtures ; establish troubleshooting guides and training for field / service teams.
ABOUT YOU :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or demonstrated work portfolio in electrical engineering or a related field.5+ years of product EE experience in a highly regulated industry; medical device experience strongly preferred.Expertise in embedded systems and circuit design (power management, sensing, radios, microcontrollers / SoCs).Hands-on with schematic / PCB tools and simulation / analysisFirmware integration experience with bare-metal and RTOS : board bring-up, drivers, test, and debug (JTAG / SWD).Proof of electrical verification excellence : instrumentation operation (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, logic analyzer, source measurement), automated test protocol design, and clear report writing.Working knowledge of medical standards / regulations (ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1 / -1-2, risk management, design controls) and documentation in an eQMS.Experience with RF design / integration (Bluetooth Low Energy; Wi-Fi and / or cellular a plus) and flex PCB manufacturing constraints.Ownership mindset : drives decisions, mentors others, and ships.NICE TO HAVE :
Nordic nRF / STM32 / TI wireless SoCs. BLE antenna design, stack tuning & throughput / latency trade-offs.Battery systems (Li-ion / solid-state), charging, fuel gauging, protection, and safety (IEC 62133).Experience with biopotential / biothermal / optical sensing front ends and low-noise analog design.Python / Matlab for data capture and automated test; familiarity with Git / Jira;Experience working with external contract manufacturers, particularly in Asia.Exposure to IEC 62304 (software), IEC 62366 (usability), ISO 14971 (risk), and cyber-security guidance for medical wireless devices.BENEFITS :
