The Role

As a Principal Analytics Engineer, you will serve as a technical and strategic leader driving WBD's enterprise-wide data and analytics strategy. You'll design and govern the semantic data layer, build robust and scalable data products, and enable self-service analytics across domains such as commerce, product, and content.

You will collaborate with senior executives, product leaders, and data teams to ensure data assets are accurate, trustworthy, and aligned with business priorities. This role requires deep technical expertise, business acumen, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

The Data & Analytics organization is at the forefront of developing and maintaining frameworks, tools, and data products vital to WBD, including flagship streaming product Max and non-streaming products such as Films Group, Sports, News and overall WBD eco-system. Our mission is to foster unified analytics and drive data-driven use cases by leveraging a robust multi-tenant platform and semantic layer. We are committed to delivering innovative solutions that empower teams across the company to catalyze subscriber growth, amplify engagement, and execute timely, informed decisions, ensuring our continued success in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

Responsibilities

• Define and champion WBD's enterprise data & analytics strategy; create technical roadmaps that balance innovation, scalability, and business needs.
• Architect and govern data models, semantic layers, and analytic data products to ensure consistency, accuracy, and accessibility across business domains.
• Partner with executive stakeholders to translate strategic goals into actionable data initiatives, frameworks, and governance policies.
• Provide technical leadership on large-scale, cross-functional data initiatives; ensure alignment between platform architecture and analytics use cases.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in data modeling, metadata management, observability, and data quality.
• Serve as a thought leader, influencing industry practices and representing WBD in external forums, conferences, or publications.
• Mentor and coach senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
• Oversee operational excellence, including system reliability, platform performance, and cloud cost management.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and / or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range : $175,700.00 - $326,300.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
