Job Title : Nuclear Medicine Technologist Profession : Healthcare Specialty : Nuclear Medicine Duration : 13 weeks Shift : AM Hours per Shift : 8 Experience : Minimum 1 year License : ARRT(N) or NMTCB preferred Certifications : BLS (AHA Only) Must-Have : Confidence to work independently in a clinical environment Description : The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs nuclear medicine procedures, PET, and theranostic procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider. Responsible for ensuring high-quality nuclear medicine procedures according to established protocols. Systematically evaluates the quality of imaging procedures and follows established standards. Maintains equipment by performing quality control as required by imaging manufacturers or regulatory standards. Communicates with patients to identify service requirements and establish rapport. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family regarding the test being performed. Explains the procedure thoroughly to put patients at ease and assesses their ability to tolerate the exam. Safeguards patients and team members by adhering to all radiation safety requirements and protocols. Administers radiopharmaceuticals and adjunctive medications per protocol, ensuring patient safety. Collaborates with colleagues, medical staff, and radiologists for optimal patient care. Reports issues to leadership or appropriate departments as necessary. Assists in maintaining supply inventory and ordering necessary radiopharmaceuticals. Ensures an accurate transfer of patient images for clinical review and dictation by physicians. Ability to communicate effectively regarding changes in the medical condition of patients. Demonstrates and maintains knowledge of appropriate care for various age groups. Provides services timely and accurately in compliance with established procedures. Maintains a calm and helpful attitude under stress and takes appropriate steps to resolve issues. Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Able to serve as a trainer by providing quality education to new team members and students. Adheres to policies, procedures, and workflows related to imaging services. Demonstrates general computer skills, including electronic medical documentation and email.
