Adjunct Lecturer - Communication Studies Job at The City University of New York

Overview

The Communications Studies Program at LaGuardia Community College seeks a creative and collaborative adjunct faculty member to teach introductory undergraduate courses in public speaking. These courses include Introduction to Public Speaking and Public Speaking. The desired candidate could also be asked to teach other course offerings that align with the candidate’s area of specialization, i.e., nonverbal communication, intercultural communication, among others. The introductory courses are taken by students of all majors and are also paired with our First Year Seminar – the gateway course for all incoming students. The introductory courses are also included in learning communities designed for native and non-native speakers of English. The desired candidate would also assist in advising students on their academic progress, engaging in professional development, and assisting with course / program assessment.

Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, Speech Communication, Human Communication, or Media Studies.

Preferred Qualifications

• A MA / MS in Communication Studies, Speech Communication, Human Communication, or Media Studies are preferred.
• Candidates who had previous community college / undergraduate teaching experience are preferred.
• Candidates who can teach both in-person and online courses are preferred.
• Candidates who can teach in both daytime and / or evening classes are preferred.

Compensation

Adjunct Lecturer : $100.41 / hr
