Shape What’s Next in Sustainable Packaging
At Novolex®, we create packaging solutions across paper, plastic, and other sustainable materials for the food, retail, health, and industrial sectors. Our sustainability vision is grounded in three pillars—our products, our operations, and our people—which guide our company-wide commitment and ambitious initiatives for the future.
A Day in This Role
You start your shift by reviewing CMMS tasks and parts inventory, then walk the line to ensure production equipment is set up to meet product specifications. An unexpected PLC fault? You dive into the code, check the HMI, verify VFD parameters, and trace signals on a 4–20 mA loop. Later, you bend conduit for a new installation, perform a controlled shutdown to swap a temperature control module, and bench-test an offline assembly—either restocking it as repaired inventory or red-tagging and notifying your lead to order a replacement or send it out for repair. Throughout the day you collaborate with engineering, machine operators, and fellow maintenance teammates to keep a fast-paced manufacturing environment running safely and efficiently—even under pressure.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems to maximize equipment uptime and improve maintenance processes.
- Perform repairs, preventative maintenance, new installations, upgrades, and changes on production equipment and facility systems.
- Maintain detailed service records and parts usage (written and in the CMMS).
- Diagnose hardware and software issues across PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, AC / DC drives, temperature controls, and computer-based systems.
- Program and set up machines to meet product specifications; make PLC, HMI, and VFD changes or transfers and troubleshoot as needed.
- Assist in creating, modifying, and revising manufacturing work instructions and process flow documentation.
- Assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot, and maintain electro-mechanical systems—manual and automated—working from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
- Run and bend conduit, mount boxes, pull feed wires, and make terminations.
- Bench work : diagnose, rebuild, and repair offline parts and equipment; test, restock as repaired inventory, or red tag and escalate to the lead / supervisor.
- Work safely, accurately, quickly, and independently; perform well under pressure.
