Summary

Responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, calibration, repair and / or replacement of electronic instrumentation and controls normally found in an industrial plant setting under the direction of the Water Reclamation Electronic / Electrical Maintenance Manager or designee.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
Essential Functions :
- Constructs process monitoring and control systems from specific instrumentation and communication devices, installs, views PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs, calibrates, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs major electronic systems and peripheral devices per manufacturer?s specification in conjunction with Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations
- Reads complex schematics, wiring diagrams, and shop drawings for the purpose of installation, troubleshooting and repairing of major systems and minor subsystems and components; should have some ability to troubleshoot motor starter circuits
- Troubleshoots,installs, and calibrates various instruments, including ultrasonic level transmitters, transit time flow meters, Doppler flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, differential pressure transmitters, various gas analyzers, turbidity analyzers, chlorine residual analyzers, dissolved oxygen transmitters, and sludge blanket level transmitters
- Utilizes a wide range of test equipment, including recorders, computers, PC based software analyzer programs, oscilloscopes, data analyzers, analog and digital multi-meters, and other test equipment, while performing tests to identify problems and to maintain and calibrate equipment to performance standards
- Connects, disconnects, and tags out equipment and circuits for test or repair and safety of personnel and equipment
- Pulls and terminates cable for instrumentation installs
- Performs installations in compliance with the national electrical code
- Performs soldering on electronic components
- Performs basic mechanical repairs as required
- Maintains shop and storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion
- Maintains the safe and efficient use of materials, tools, test equipment and personal safety and all others working in the vicinity
- Cleans work area after work is complete
- Complies with plant policy and procedures, in particular, those involving personnel and equipment safety
- Maintains and repairs network communications systems (i.e. fiber networks, Ethernet networks and network peripherals)
- Maintains and repairs complete process systems and repair / replace subcomponents as required
- Maintains telephone and / or radio contact with operation and management personnel
- Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance

A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrument & Controls Technician or performing similar duties in a related positionOR

Military job training in a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) field that required an extensive electronic applicationOR
