Receptionist
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a receptionist in Tyler, TX. The job summary includes answering the telephone in a courteous manner and directing calls to the appropriate destination; recording accurate and complete messages when necessary; greeting and announcing visitors and clients; providing general information about The Salvation Army's operations and services; and performing routine clerical work such as typing and filing.
Receptionist responsibilities include answering the telephone and transferring calls to the appropriate destination; responding to callers' questions and providing accurate information; telephone others to communicate messages; recording accurate and complete messages; ensuring the timely and accurate distribution of messages through telephone and / or email; receiving, greeting, and announcing visitors in a courteous and tactful manner; providing assistance to callers and visitors by answering questions and providing instructions and referrals; screening sales representatives soliciting to The Salvation Army; notifying proper individuals when visitors or clients have arrived; ensuring that visitors and clients have signed-in; adding / deleting names and extensions to the phone list to ensure the list remains up-to-date on a daily basis; proofreading telephone lists for mistakes before list is printed; monitoring the entrance to the building and parking lot ensuring the security of the same.
Administrative responsibilities include preparing and sending donor acknowledgement letters; memorial and honorarium notifications; utilizing the postage meter machine; receiving and preparing receipts for non-monetary donations, packages, express mail, and items delivered to the lobby; notifying proper individuals of item arrival by telephone and / or email; and performing routine administrative duties such as typing and filing as requested.
Other responsibilities include replenishing War Cry stock and distributing same to appropriate department; providing assistance with special or seasonal projects such as Christmas, Adopt a Family, Angel Tree, etc.; maintaining the neatness and attractiveness of the reception area; and performing other duties as assigned.
Education and experience required : high school diploma or G.E.D. required and two years experience working with telephone switchboard responsibilities or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
