Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage payroll operations for a workforce of 300+ employees (hourly and exempt). This role is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing while serving as a strategic partner to finance, HR, and leadership.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can balance hands-on payroll processing with process improvement, compliance, and team mentorship. This position is open due to growth and may expand to include vendor management, benefits administration oversight, and other strategic projects.

What You'll Do
Payroll Leadership & Oversight
- Manage biweekly multi-location, multi-state payroll processing ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee payroll for hourly, salaried, and exempt employees across multiple departments.
- Review and approve payroll data entry, deductions, and adjustments.
- Ensure accurate payment of wages, benefits, taxes, garnishments, and other deductions.
- Partner with HR to manage onboarding, offboarding, and employment changes.
- Prepare and distribute payroll-related reports for finance, HR, and management.
Compliance & Risk Management
Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.Manage payroll audits, including benefits and retirement plan audits.Research and resolve complex payroll issues and discrepancies.Protect the confidentiality of employee payroll data.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Coordinate with HR and benefits teams to manage benefit deductions and resolve issues.Work with finance to reconcile payroll accounts, benefit invoices, and retirement contributions.Act as the primary contact for payroll system vendor relationships and escalations.Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline payroll workflows and implement automation.Provide payroll metrics, trend reports, and recommendations to leadership.Support strategic payroll and benefits initiatives as the company grows.Requirements
What We're Looking For
5+ years of payroll experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.Strong payroll system expertise in PaylocityDeep knowledge of payroll compliance, wage and hour regulations, and tax laws.Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to mentor staff.Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.Why Join Us
