What will the job look like?

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the primary responsibility of the Client Advocate is to work one-on-one with clients to ensure they are provided with the resources, training, and support they need to develop their job readiness and overcome their barriers so they can meet their employment goals.

Responsibilities will include client intake and assessment, development of an Individualized Employment Plan and actionable goals, coaching, training, advocacy, referrals, providing resources, appropriate training recommendations, including needed accommodations, case noting, and consulting with internal and external support personnel, among others.

This position will have responsibility for an assigned scope of program services, that will include ensuring program goals are met and that fiscal and grant outcomes are achieved as well as the Client Advocate plays an integral role in Goodwill Program Services, and serves as a key liaison between the participant, agencies, and local businesses.

What are the essential responsibilities?

  • Assist with direct community outreach to recruit and follow up with potential individuals to join our programs to pursue and achieve employment and educational goals.
  • Work directly with each client to conduct comprehensive assessment to understand where each client is at in their employment journey, including assessing strengths, goals and perceived barriers.
  • Provide individual career counseling to develop an Individual Employment Plan, including short and long term goals and needed job readiness training.
  • Problem solve with clients to resolve barriers to success.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources.
  • Assist clients in gaining with recommended skills training as needed, including general computer skills and Microsoft Office and Google training as needed.
  • Coach and assist clients to pursue and achieve employment and educational goals, accessing internal and external resources.
  • Develop meaningful job search / retention activities for program participants, including existing services such as resume and cover letter review, and online job search.
  • Develop a plan of action to increase job placement efforts, including mock interview preparation and targeted job lead recommendations as appropriate.
  • Document all activities and participant progress in a timely manner through their individual Employment Plan or Individual Goal Plan in files and document in the Caseworthy system.
  • Proactively collaborate and actively participate in a professional working relationship with all levels of internal and external staff and clients.
  • Serve as a liaison between the participant, agency, and the business and establish and maintain working relationships with professionals and business persons within the community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with agencies and other outreach activities to increase referrals for enrollment and participant recruitment.

Provide and document appropriate participant referrals.

  • Coordinate and facilitate assigned company and agency events and workshops, including communication and marketing needs.
  • Maintain client files and documentation to ensure accurate and timely data entry in compliance with CARF and agency / funders guidelines.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills, communication skills, including excellent active listening and speaking skills.

Must be a self-starter and good team player.

  • Participate in meetings, trainings, conferences, and special events as necessary. Participate in audit and monitoring visits as required.
  • Provide own transportation as required, with ability to travel within designated service area as needed.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
