About the Company:

Our client, a consulting firm based in Honolulu, Hawaii, is dedicated to providing comprehensive accounting and risk management solutions tailored to their clients' needs. They have a strong industry presence in Hawaii, the Mainland and Japan. We are assisting them in their search for a skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join their team.

Position Overview:

As the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing the company’s tax function, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations, and optimizing tax strategies. This role requires an individual with a strong understanding of taxation, strategic tax planning, and the ability to oversee tax filings, audits, and compliance at both the federal and state levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for clients.
  • Oversee tax compliance related to industry regulations.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in tax laws and regulations, and assess their impact on the business.
  • Provide tax guidance for business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, and risk management strategies for clients.
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Work closely with internal financial teams to ensure proper financial reporting and tax-related entries.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and tax-related issues affecting captive insurance companies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax management.
  • Experience working for a public accounting firm.
  • Proficiency with software related to tax and accounting.
  • Strong experience in federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting.
  • Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex tax situations and audits.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
