Assistant Controller

About the Role We are seeking a  data-driven and execution-focused Assistant Controller  to join our finance leadership team.

This individual will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting, improving accounting processes, and driving efficiency through automation and disciplined process improvement.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Assistant Controller will help lead the accounting function, streamline close and reporting cycles, and support operational excellence through hands-on leadership and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable / receivable, and related functions.

Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.

Design, implement, and optimize  automated workflows  to improve accuracy and reduce manual effort in financial processes.

Partner with the CFO to identify opportunities for  process improvement and efficiency gains  across the finance organization.

Lead or assist in system implementations and integrations, including ERP and automation tools.

Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Serve as a  hands-on, dependable leader  who takes ownership, rolls up their sleeves, and ensures results are delivered.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.

Proven experience with  process improvement and automation tools.

Experience with SQL and / or Python  is a strong plus.

Advanced Excel skills Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Located near Salt Lake City with the ability to work in office as well as remotely.
