Role Description
Under general direction, the Senior Epic Business Analyst oversees the more difficult and complex aspects of the systems development cycle, including needs analysis, cost‑benefit analysis, structured systems analysis and design, feasibility analysis, technology and software assessment, telecommunications needs analysis, project planning and management, system installation, implementation and testing, conversion to production status, technical and procedural documentation, user training, and post‑implementation assessment and administration; they may serve as the primary MIS resource for an organization with a complex system.
Key Duties
Identify opportunities for improving business processes through automation; assist in development of proposals for new systems.
Analyze data processing needs; evaluate software and assist users in meeting departmental goals.
Develop or modify system design; write detailed design specifications; conduct walkthroughs for proposed solutions.
Analyze feasibility and develop requirements for new or enhanced systems; ensure design meets user needs.
Install, test, debug, and implement new or modified programs.
Provide technical support for computer and telecommunications systems; troubleshoot and implement solutions.
Conduct system analysis, coordinate user training; convert new programming from test to production.
Interface with users to determine needs; instruct on new systems; define requirements; review impact of modifications.
Prepare or assist in preparing service requests; determine effort and cost; prioritize requests.
Provide production support, set processing schedules, update and produce reports.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors to complete projects and service requests.
Determine database structure; normalize data; perform data conversion; design, develop and generate reports.
Determine security levels; test database applications for integrity and effectiveness.
How to Qualify
Minimum Qualifications
Certification :
Epic module certification
Education :
Associate degree in business administration, public administration, information systems, economics, finance, computer science, or a closely related field; or equivalent in total credits (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits, with at least 20 semester credits in the field).
Experience :
Three years in the information systems field, including system analysis, business process design, development and implementation of business application solutions or IT project management.
Substitution
Up to two years of experience may substitute for the required degree on a year‑for‑year basis.
Completion of the 1010 Information Systems Trainee Program may substitute for the required degree.
