Controls Engineer
Actalent invites you to join our Material Handling Equipment (MHE) engineering team as a Controls Engineer. You will challenge existing processes, drive creative process improvement, and design electrical and controls layouts for new and existing delivery stations to enhance the intelligence of our last mile business.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop industrial controls for complex material handling systems, considering human / equipment interactions.
- Serve as the interface between MHE vendors and internal engineering teams to ensure compliance with controls specifications and applicable codes like NEC and NFPA 70.
- Manage multiple high-visibility projects while effectively communicating with internal and external partners, contractors, and vendors.
- Conduct post-mortem analysis on designs, collaborating with Safety, Maintenance, and Operations teams.
- Review new technology in MHE systems, focusing on electrical and controls interfacing requirements.
- Evaluate pricing for project proposals, change orders, and other quotes related to electrical and controls scope.
- Utilize AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and / or Eplan for reviewing electrical schematics and layouts.
- Update specifications to maintain optimal controls technology for Logistics.
- Understand material handling control systems, including relay logic, PLCs, IPCs, and industrial networks.
- Develop and update design standards with worldwide design teams, emphasizing electrical and controls design.
- Experience with advanced technology applications, conveyor hardware selection, and material handling integration.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in PLC programming, especially with Allen-Bradley systems.Strong skills in Control System Design.Experience with Rockwell Automation, Codesys, and related technologies.Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.5 years of experience in Electrical / Control systems design and implementation in a fast-paced industrial environment.5 years of experience managing large projects.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with vendor electrical drawings and HMI's.Knowledge of safety switches and PLC logics.Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work environment with flexible office and remote work options. The role requires 20-40% travel, primarily within the Pacific Northwest, with occasional travel for factory acceptance testing. The candidate can work from Bellevue or Austin offices, collaborating with controls vendors and designing new and retrofit PLC systems.
