A Medical Assistant- Podiatry Specialist would concentrate on supporting foot and ankle care for our senior patient population. The position emphasizes evidence-based preventive care and helps reduce the need for specialty referrals by providing comprehensive foot care within our medical centers, keeping patients in our system where we can coordinate their complete care effectively.
Patient Care Support :
Assist podiatrists during examinations and procedures
Help patients with positioning and comfort during foot / ankle assessments
Take vital signs and document patient symptoms related to foot conditions
Foot Care Procedures :
Assist with routine nail trimming and callus removal
Help with wound care for diabetic foot ulcers or other foot injuries
Support basic foot hygiene education for patients
Documentation & Screening :
Document foot examinations and findings in patient records
Screen patients for diabetic foot complications, circulation issues, and infection risks
Track healing progress of wounds or surgical sites
Equipment & Supplies :
Prepare treatment rooms for podiatric procedures

Identifying foot problems early before they become serious health issues
Supporting our high-risk senior population who frequently have circulation and diabetes-related foot problems
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA :
High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required
Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e. EMT, paramedic) required
A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician or similar in a hospital, medical clinic or comparable environment OR documented clinical rotation training can be substituted for work experience
Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus
EMR system experience preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required w / in first 90 days of employment
