Japanese Speaking Project Engineer

Gray Construction is seeking a Japanese-speaking Project Engineer with a Mechanical Engineering background to join their offices in Charlotte, NC, or Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and monitor project progress using QMS, including scheduling, estimating, and budgeting to ensure project timelines are met.
• Perform quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and bid solicitations.
• Research options and regulations as needed.
• Procure and coordinate delivery of materials, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to specifications and budget.
• Review and approve invoices and change orders.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure scope coverage.
• Review shop drawings from vendors and subcontractors.
• Relocate to job sites if required to understand procurement and construction practices.
• Attend weekly site meetings and prepare reports such as progress analysis, schedules, and status updates.
• Maintain organized project files and report project status to supervisors.
• Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Enforce Grays safety policies on-site.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Must be physically present in the Birmingham office and able to meet physical demands such as lifting up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs. Must have good vision and be able to work in various environments, including outdoor conditions. Overtime and travel may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Indirect supervision of subcontractors and field personnel.
