SUMMARY :

Provides technical guidance, oversees daily operations, and leads a team of machinists and operators to ensure production goals and quality standards are met. Key responsibilities include assigning tasks, ensuring safety, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, training new employees, and collaborating with engineers and management to improve processes. Possesses strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with machining equipment, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of blueprints and safety protocols.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :   include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Meet the quality, productivity, and delivery requirements of the Machine Shop.
  • Daily planning and direction of machine shop team members.
  • Create NC programs, set up manual / ¾ axis CNC machines, and / or assist team members with setup or operations of machines.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Periodically verify parts being machined.
  • Close work orders and interface with the Fourth Shift ERP system.
  • Implement and participate in productivity improvement programs.
  • Assist in skills training and interpretation of production documentation.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Process EOs, Variances.
  • Investigate, find the root cause, and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Work collaboratively with R&D and Mfg. Engineering.
  • Identify and promote cost savings opportunities
  • OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Work on special projects assigned by the department supervisor / manager.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Daily planning and direction of machine shop team members.
  • EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

  • AA Degree in Machining Technology, Certificate from NTMA, High School Diploma or equivalent education, experience, or knowledge.
  • Minimum 8 years of machining experience, including setup, operation, and programming CNC machines.
  • Must be educated in the operation of FANUC CNC controls and developing NC programs, either MDI or using Master Cam.
  • Must be familiar with PC operation and the collection of SPC data.
  • Fabricating jigs and fixtures
  • Grinding cutting tools
  • Using inspection tools including CMM, Optical Comparator, Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gages, Gage Pins, etc.
  • Managing schedules and training employees.
  • Following Safety Policy and Procedures
  • Developing and maintaining SPC charts
