As an Intern, you will become involved with all aspects of the audit practice and will gain solid, hands-on experience. You will receive guidance and on-the-job training from the audit staff to assist with the detailed verification procedures necessary to perform examinations of clients’ financial statements. Much of your assigned client work will involve working on compilations. Additional projects may include math checks, cash basis conversions, research, footing financials, etc.
The position requires strong quantitative, analytical and technology capabilities. You must exhibit initiative and a strong desire to learn. An intermediate level of Excel knowledge is expected. At a minimum, applicants are required to have at least an accounting major GPA of 3.0 as an upper classman and demonstrated leadership capabilities. A desire for a career in a mid-tier public accounting firm is required, as well as focus on achieving your CPA license in the future. Ability to go to client sites is also required.
Assurance internships are in the office and run January - April with a minimum of 24 hours a week (3, 8 hour days).
The goal of the internship is to provide you a clear understanding of all areas of the assurance department. Your internship will accelerate your career development post-graduation and enhance your career success.
Interns are allowed and encouraged to attend any subject matter training being offered during their internship. Marcum LLP offers 150+ courses per year, in house, which can supplement your studies.
