Arthrex is actively searching for a Director of Biomedical Research to lead our initiatives in biomechanical and biomaterials research. The successful candidate will manage and oversee the Biomedical Research team, ensuring the development of test protocols, materials, and fixture requirements, and the performance of physical testing of products. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and technical skills, along with ten years or more of related experience and a master's degree are essential for this position. Main Objective :

Responsible for leading the Biomedical Research team in the development of test protocols, materials, and fixture requirements, and the performance of physical testing of products, with a focus on biomechanical and biomaterials research. Assists New Product Development Teams in the design and testing of new products. Researches competitive and new product ideas and presents to Engineering Teams, Product Management, and Leadership.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities :

• Manages the Biomedical Research Department's work activities to ensure timely and efficient flow of services and projects, specifically the Biomechanical & Biomaterials Research Lab.
• Maintains a leading-edge understanding of the orthopedic industry, customers, and competitors to identify new opportunities for biomedical research.
• Oversees the development and execution of research studies related to biomechanics, biomaterials, and polymer testing.
• Assesses new technology, materials, and product ideas for technical and economic feasibility.
• Collaborates with New Product Development Teams to provide biomedical insights and support the design and testing of new products.
• Develops and oversees budgets and timelines for research projects and equipment.
• Provides support to Engineering Teams, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Product Management, and Sterilization departments as needed.
• Reports progress and status of projects to the Vice President of Strategic Development and other senior leaders as necessary.
• Hires, develops, and retains the best talent for the Biomedical Research team. Actively provides coaching and career development assistance to team members. Develops future leaders through effective selection and development activities.
