Aerospace Transparencies Program Manager – Hybrid
Location : Sylmar, CA – This hybrid role requires on-site presence 3 days a week and remote work 2 days a week. The Aerospace Transparencies Program Manager reports directly to the Global Program Director, Transparencies.
The role oversees the program lifecycle management (PLM) of aerospace transparencies for fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft (military and commercial). Responsibilities include managing cross-functional teams, coordinating with suppliers and customers, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards, and driving program schedules, budgets and quality objectives to successful completion across a portfolio of projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all program aspects throughout the PLM process, driving from concept and qualification (Gates 2-5) to production and sunset (Gates 5-7), ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company goals.
- Develop detailed program plans, schedules, budgets and resource allocations; monitor progress and implement corrective actions, leading program gates with authority to approve or fail gates.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, R&D, and procurement teams to ensure seamless program execution and construct integrated project teams (IPT) as required.
- Maintain customer communications from gate 2 through gate 7, negotiate technical changes, and support commercial teams at gates 0-1 and throughout the PLM lifecycle.
- Examples for New Product Introduction (NPI) Efforts and Sustaining Production Support :
Ensure completion / updates of product design, tooling, EMD / LRIP / FRP product and process documentation (BOO / BOMs), etc.
Manage ancillary program activities such as NRE efforts, touching all aspects of the value stream; provide development part forecast to S&OP Demand teams.Support technical and financial review for program activities, including proposal generation.Develop and build project budgets and acquire funding approval for required capital funds.Drive process improvements and best practices in program management and aerospace transparency manufacturing.Identify program risks and develop mitigation strategies to restore schedule, cost and quality.Ensure all transparencies comply with customer requirements, industry standards (FAA, EASA, MIL-STD) and internal quality requirements.Prepare and present regular program status reports, including financial performance, schedule adherence and risk assessments to senior management.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or greater in an engineering field.Aerospace specific industry experience preferred.Minimum of five (5) years of program management or engineering experience in aerospace or defense industries, with specific experience in transparencies or related components.Strong knowledge of aerospace transparency materials (acrylators, polycarbonates, glass), manufacturing processes and testing methods.PMP (Project Management Professional) certification strongly preferred.Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply.Travel 10% – may include international travel.The base salary range for this position is $112,000 to $125,000 annually.
