Job Summary
Aptive Resources is seeking dedicated Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join our team at the VA Medical Center located in Palo Alto, CA.
CNAs play a vital role in providing compassionate care and assistance to our nation's veterans. Multiple shifts are available to accommodate various schedules, including 0700 AM-330 PM;
730AM-400PM; 0800AM-430PM; 1030AM-700PM; 1130AM-800PM; 1230PM-900PM; 3 : 30pm-0000am. Contract personnel shall be available and present during normal VAPAHCS hours, which will be established and may be revised as deemed appropriate for patient care.
Currently, normal operating hours are twenty-four hours per day for 7 days per week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Turning or moving patients to ensure comfort and prevent bedsores.
- Gathering medical supplies and ensuring they are readily available for patient care.
- Assisting patients with bathing and maintaining personal hygiene.
- Grooming patients by brushing their hair, teeth, shaving, and other personal care activities.
- Feeding patients according to their dietary needs and documenting food and liquid intake.
- Monitoring and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature.
- Responding promptly to patient calls and addressing their needs with empathy and professionalism.
- Documenting patient information accurately and maintaining confidentiality.
- Cleaning patient rooms, changing bed linens, and ensuring a sanitary environment.
- Stocking supplies and maintaining inventory levels to support efficient patient care.
- Assisting healthcare professionals with medical procedures as directed.
- Following safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
- Transporting patients to various locations within the medical center as needed.
- Providing basic wound care under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- BLS certification or ACLS certification is required
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting, particularly with veterans, is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
