Substation Engineer

Position Summary :

We are seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to join our Fort Worth, TX office. This onsite supervisory role is responsible for leading the design and upgrade of substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The position involves overseeing project execution-including scope, schedule, budget, and resources-while mentoring and managing a team of engineers and designers.

The ideal candidate will bring at least 8 years of substation engineering experience, a Professional Engineering license, and strong technical proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation. Job Function :

• Develop project plans, including project scope of work and WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) for complex multi-discipline-based substation Engineering projects and EPC projects
• Manage Substation project execution, including project scope, schedule, budget, and project resources, including external vendors, consultants, and contractors
• Effectively track and stabilize projects, implement solutions to obstacles, and ensure client goals are achieved
• Attend client meetings and communicate concerns and changes with the client to ensure a positive relationship and growth opportunities
• Prepare and review preliminary designs
• Prepare proposals, including budgetary estimates
• Lead the development of plans, specifications, studies, estimates, material lists, and other deliverables
• Ensure team adherence to the QA / QC program
• Develop new, or modify existing :
• Electrical layout / plan of substation equipment and structures
• Substation foundation layout / plan drawings
• Section / elevation views from layout / plan drawings
• Conduit layout / plan drawings
• Substation grounding layout / plan drawings
• Control building layout / plan and section / elevation drawings
• Lead, mentor, and help grow a team of engineers and designers :
• Manage day-to-day activities for your team
• Set goals and expectations for each team member
• Assist in annual performance reviews
• Assist in recruiting efforts - posting job requisitions and participating in interviews
