Rate : $40-$45 / hour - 1.5X OT

Per Diem : Local Only

Hours : 40+ hours per week (potentially up to 50)

Overview

A Massachusetts-based solar developer is seeking a Field Superintendent / Construction Manager to provide on-site oversight of a civil contractor during the initial site preparation phase of a solar project in Ava, NY. This position will serve as the client's “eyes on the ground” ensuring the contractor is performing safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the project plan.

The civil contractor is expected to mobilize within the next 1–2 weeks, and this role will be required through the completion of the civil scope (tree clearing, road cutting, site prep). Company project managers will visit periodically, but this individual will be the primary daily presence on-site. Additional opportunities may follow on other solar projects in New York (Albany area and Orange County).

Responsibilities

Provide daily on-site oversight of civil contractor activities including tree clearing, roadwork, grading, and site preparation

Monitor jobsite for safety compliance, enforce site safety expectations, and stop unsafe practices as needed

Track daily progress and report updates to the remote project management team

Coordinate with the civil contractor and project team to address site issues and maintain schedule

Review survey work, site cut / fill activities, and general civil construction practices for accuracy and compliance

Act as the client representative on site in absence of company project managers

Maintain thorough field notes and documentation of activities

Qualifications

3+ years overseeing civil construction projects (utility-scale solar, site prep, or heavy civil preferred)

Strong working knowledge of tree clearing, earthwork, road cutting, and surveying practices

Field-oriented mindset with ability to manage subcontractor performance without direct corporate support on-site

Solid understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements

Excellent communication and reporting skills for coordination with remote project manager
