As a Hospice Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you will provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients in a hospice setting.

Working under the supervision of registered nurses and other healthcare professionals, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with terminal illnesses and supporting their families during difficult times.

Your primary responsibility will be to assist patients with activities of daily living, ensure their comfort, and provide emotional support to both patients and their loved ones.

At Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, we carefully establish salary ranges for our positions by taking various factors into account, including education, certifications, knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions.

These ranges are tailored to match the diverse programs and services we offer. Our goal is to ensure fair compensation for candidates based on these factors while maintaining internal peer equity.

Pay Range : $19.00 - $32.00 / hr

Starting Pay Range for this Position : $19.00 - $27.14 / hour

Mileage Reimbursement : $0.67 per mile, for eligible positions.

Vacation : Accrual of hours each pay period based on hours worked.

Wellness Days : After the 90-day introductory period, eligible employees can convert up to two sick days into wellness days.

Annual "Yay Day" : Full-time employees receive 1 paid day off every January to volunteer in the community.

Sick Time : Earned on an accrual basis, with a 90-day hold for new hires (usable after 90 days)

Paid Holidays : Ten recognized holidays with no waiting period for new hires.

Health Benefits : Opt-in for Low Deductible Health Benefits, Vision, and Dental starting the first month following your start date.

Health Benefit Options : Medical, Dental, Vision, Supplemental Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, GlobeLife Voluntary Benefits, and Life Flight.

Voluntary Supplemental Benefits : Pet Insurance, Globe Life, and Life Flight.

Agency-covered benefits : Basic Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment at 1x Annual Salary, Long-Term Disability, and Short-Term Disability.

401k : You can start contributing right away and up to 5% employer matching after 1 year of employment for eligible employees.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) : Full-time employees may be eligible. More information : PSLF Link

Premium Pay : Bilingual in Spanish : Verified through ALTA staff testing and Approved Certifications : Premium pay upon review and approval.

Tuition Assistance : After 1-year of employment, eligible employees can receive up to $5,000 annually in higher education assistance.

Continuing Education Units : Tri-Cities chaplaincy utilizes Relias Learning and CAPC for employees to earn continuing education units for their credential requirements.

Certification and Training Opportunities : Employees can partner with their department director on professional goals that benefit the agency and themselves for certification and training opportunities.

Requirements

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate or equivalent G.E.D.
  • Licensed in the State of Washington as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • This position is designated as safety-sensitive and will require pre-employment drug testing, which includes cannabis testing in WA State.

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working as a nursing or therapy assistant preferred.

CLINICAL STAFF POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

As required per position / credentialing; successful completion of Blood Born Pathogens Training

Hospice House) Washington State Food Worker Card issued by the Department of Health

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Patient Care : Provide direct patient care, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being, comfort, and dignity. Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.

Monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in patient's conditions, and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.

Supportive Care : Offer compassionate emotional support and actively listen to patients and their families, addressing their concerns and providing reassurance.

Create a nurturing and supportive environment, fostering open communication and empathy.

Care Planning : Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including registered nurses, physicians, social workers, and chaplains, to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients.

Assist in assessing patients' needs and preferences, contributing to the creation of personalized care plans that respect their wishes and goals.

Medication Management : Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals, adhering to established protocols and ensuring accurate documentation.

Monitor patients for any adverse reactions and report any concerns promptly.

Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including vital signs, daily care activities, and any changes in patient's conditions.

Report any significant observations or incidents to the appropriate healthcare professionals in a timely manner.

  • Comfort Measures : Provide comfort measures to patients, such as positioning, turning, and providing pain relief. Assist with the use of assistive devices and mobility aids to enhance patients' comfort and safety.
  • Family Support : Offer emotional support and guidance to patients' families, helping them navigate the challenges of caring for a terminally ill loved one.

Educate and train family members on providing basic care and comfort measures.

  • Safety and Infection Control : Follow established safety and infection control procedures to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, adhering to hospice policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrate support and adherence to the agency's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Participate in community Education and Outreach to raise awareness of agency-provided programs including but not limited to hospice care, advanced care planning, and bereavement.
  • Responsible for knowledge and compliance with agency policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Responsible for maintaining and protecting Patient and agency information in a confidential manner. Practice appropriate HIPAA confidentiality by accessing patient-related information on a "need to know" basis only.
  • Reliable personal transportation, and current and valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • Satisfaction of state and agency requirements for Tuberculin testing
  • Hepatitis B immunization series, proof of series, or signed declination.
  • Proof of applicable Vaccination(s) on file or approved accommodation / declination as appropriate on file.
  • Must pass criminal background screening and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (see attached physical requirements and environmental conditions).
  • Complete agency and departmental orientation and training program(s).
  • Complete all continued learning, education, policy reviews, and required training by their respective deadlines.
  • Maintain licensure(s) and certification(s) required for the position.
  • Available to work as assigned / scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
