UX Strategist / UX / UI Strategist (agency / consulting experience highly preferred and experience with e-commerce)

Location : Hybrid-Remote – Chicago, IL (must be local to Chicago at this time - 3 days onsite in Downtown Chicago)

Contract : W2, 6+ months with potential for extension or conversion (medical, dental & vision benefits offered)

About the Role

We’re seeking a UX Strategist / UX / UI Strategist who can seamlessly connect strategy with execution. This individual will play a critical role in uncovering user and business needs, defining product direction, and translating insights into intuitive, engineer-ready design solutions.

The ideal candidate is equal parts researcher, strategist, and designer—capable of leading discovery and synthesis efforts, building frameworks that inform design decisions, and then executing polished, responsive experiences in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead user research, interviews, journey mapping, and synthesis to uncover actionable insights and align strategy with business goals.
• Translate research into strategic frameworks (personas, experience maps, workflows, and design principles) that guide product direction.
• Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to shape end-to-end experiences, from discovery through delivery.
• Design interaction models, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI that bring strategy to life in a user-friendly, scalable way.
• Contribute to design documentation and systems ensuring engineer-ready deliverables.
• Communicate strategy and design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders with clarity and influence.

Requirements

The hourly pay range for this position (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location) is $40.00 to $58.00 / hr. Benefits available to full-time employees : medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
