Job Summary
You will be a vital advocate for our patients, dedicated to promoting, protecting, and optimizing their health and well-being. This role involves the diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health problems, and the alleviation of suffering through expert care. The RN is professionally responsible and accountable for adhering to all standards of practice, including the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. You will play a key role in fostering a caring, healing environment centered on patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
The RN role encompasses the full scope of the nursing process and professional accountability, including :
Patient Care Management : Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates comprehensive nursing care for a designated group of patients, often serving as the primary or accountable nurse.Safety & Efficiency : Manages patient assignments while prioritizing factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and overall impact.Education : Provides essential education to patients and families regarding health promotion and disease management, utilizing available resources effectively.Medication Safety : Utilizes a strong working knowledge of pharmacology to safely administer medications in strict accordance with United Health Services policy.Resource Utilization : Contributes to effective resource utilization and productivity, including efficient time management, staffing allocation, and control of supplies and services.Compliance : Ensures strict compliance with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies.Professional Governance : Actively supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by engaging with the Unit Council, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.Growth & Development : Engages continuously in professional development, continuing nursing education, and timely completion of all mandatory education requirements.Evidence-Based Practice : Integrates current nursing research and the latest evidence into daily clinical practice.Mentorship : Provides a supportive and effective learning environment for new employees and nursing students.Values & Conduct : Consistently follows all United Health Services Values and performs other assigned duties as needed.Qualifications
Required Education & Licensure
Education : Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.License : Current, active New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse (RN) License.Certification : Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).Note : Unit-specific requirements (as listed in the Compliance Matrix) must be validated prior to candidate submission.
