Job Status : Full-Time

Work Shift : 7 : 30 AM – 3 : 30 PM

Days Worked : Mon., Tue., Wed., Thu., Fri.

Hour Per Week : 40

Position Description : Teacher Apprentices observe and learn from classroom teachers. They will co-teach in the classroom, support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group student instruction, and provide substitute coverage for teachers.

Responsibilities include :

• Teach classes on behalf of Deans and teacher-leaders who are observing other teachers
• Provide substitute teaching coverage for teachers within the school
• Teach one class or small groups of students
• Periodically plan and deliver instruction, gradually taking on more responsibility throughout the year
• Develop teaching skills to potentially become a full-time teacher at the school
• Support students by providing one-on-one and small group tutoring daily, and small group intervention and student support
• Observe teachers in order to improve instructional techniques and classroom management
• Meet regularly with a coach to implement feedback on lessons and instruction
• Teach or help coordinate an elective class
• Build effective relationships amongst teachers, parents, and the community to improve school culture
• Foster a school climate that supports the school's mission statement; promotes respect and appreciation for all students, staff, and parents
