Responsibilities Position is in an Emergency Room (ER) within an acute care hospital environment Unit has 32 beds, 6 treatment chairs, and a 4-bed fast track area Patient population includes trauma, pediatrics (approximately 30%), stroke, and STEMI cases Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4, with 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 ratios for ICU-level patients Patient volume averages 208 per day, reaching up to 317 in peak times Unit equipped with vents and requires nurses to interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitors 12-hour night shifts from 7 : 00pm to 7 : 00am, with every other weekend required Floating to the ER at Arroyo Grande may be required Uses Cerner EMR system Three-shift floor-specific orientation provided Responsibilities include providing emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population, including trauma and pediatric patients Nurses are not permitted to perform lab draws; an IV team is not available Charge nurse and assistant nurse manager available 24 / 7 with support from ER techs, CNAs, EMTs, and security Staff are included in holiday rotation coverage with permanent staff Scrub color for this unit is navy Passing a dysrhythmia exam and a sterile technique test is required before and during orientation First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though travel experience is preferred Requirements Active CA RN license is required and must be obtained prior to consideration Minimum of 2 years' recent ER RN experience is required Certifications required : ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and COVID vaccine TNCC certification is preferred Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required Must provide two professional references (one supervisor from last 12 months, one supervisor or peer from last 3 years) Copy of valid driver's license required for consideration Previous employment (FT, PT, or PRN) at facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year is not permitted Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-640775.
